Finally I purchased this nice little thingy and threw out all that unnecessary plastic and cardboard pieces that took so much space. I think it is very practical, especially with both US and metric sizes.

I bought it to replace an old one with a limited range of sizes and dark blue so I could never see it in my bag. White, so it's easy to spot, round so it doesn't catch on things, good ranges of sizes. Slightly irritated that is gives US sizes and not UK but as I mainly think in metric it's not a huge problem.
This needle gauge is perfect. I have two now for different notion pouches. It is sturdy, small but has all the sizes I want on it for very little cost.

This gauge is very accurate, I find it very useful.
This is the ideal sizer for all my knitpro needles. And it has a converter for USA and mm sizes.
