Very handy
I knit exclusively on circular needles, so the usual row counters that sit on the end of the needle don't work; this is perfect. (In fact, I have three of them, since I am inclined to have more than one piece of knitting on the go at any time.) Also, unlike the end-of-needle row counters, this one goes into three figures, which is extremely useful if you are knitting, say, a long scarf. I don't know if it goes higher than 999; I've never knitted anything that long. It is very reliable, and if I put it on my right forefinger it does not get in the way of the knitting.
